A drill rod, for blast furnace taphole drilling consists of a steel tube, with a drill tip welded to one end, the novelty being that the drill tip consists of two or more steel profile sections  uniformly distributed about the steel tube periphery, the sections being fixed to the tube  by weld seams  and projecting beyond the tube end by a distance in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the tube.

A tool for blast-furnace tap-hole drilling involves body with a cutting component, enlarging bit, drill rod with cutting structure, which longitudinally is disposed inside the hollow body with a cutting component, and device for control of drilling rod length, placed on a body above the cutting component.
